Tattoo Artist
Lowkey
“I am a tattoo artist by profession which means that I draw on people’s skin for a living. My prices all depend on the size of the tattoo that the client would like,” says Lowkey, a tattoo artist from Windhoek.
“An average day for me would include having a few appointments. I normally wake up at 8am depending on the type of day I have scheduled. I like to tackle big pieces first thing in the morning as that is when I am at my sharpest, however this does not to say that my later appointments do not get the very best of me too,” ensured Lowkey.
“In between doing actual tattoos, I also have consultation services whereby potential clients can drop by the studio and we get to discuss any pieces they might be considering getting done in the near future. These consultations are free,” he said.
Lowkey tells Careers that he has always been someone who was interested in art and the way painters created pictures from nothing. “I walked into a small tattoo parlor in Oshikango, northern Namibia with a friend of mine. After seeing the way art on a piece of paper took form on somebody’s body, I never looked back. I was officially hooked. That school holiday, I offered to be an assistant to the tattoo artist.”
For Lowkey, his career first started off as a holiday job that he had taken up in that small tattoo parlor. “It was something to earn me quick cash for the holiday festivities.
