DR. A C OBHOLZER WRITES:The USA has four percent (4%) of the world's population, but twenty percent (20%) of the deaths from Covid-19. The world leader.This is the result of an absent federal strategy to combat the virus and the shallow status of public health in the USA. More than a third of adult Americans are obese (BMI >30kg/m2) and have diabetes and hypertension or incubating them. This is the result of the high carb (high sugar) low fat, tombstone, AVBOB diet. The average adult consumes 36kg of sugar per year in food and drinks, from fake, fast, junk, refill taste and feeling, malnutrition. Two thirds of the deaths are linked to diabetes and hypertension complications. Hospitals cannot reverse a death style abuse over decades.Obese diabetes, and socializing with alcohol is a deadly combination in the Covid-19 era.Science is ignored and common sense control measures are politicized. The result is an uncontrolled explosion of Covid-19 in the USA.Control measures are simple – a compulsory mask in public is the new safety belt.Two meter social distancing is the new normal.Become “anti-social”, avoid crowding.High risk people stay at home – elderly, obese diabetics, HIV/TB, smokers with Emphysema, malnourished alcoholics etc. This is about twenty percent (20%) only.Eighty percent carry on with life with precautions and the economy can breathe.Testing, tracing, tracking and home isolation.Hand hygiene – no touch, money, door knobs.Obese to go on Banting diet, low carb (no sugars) high healthy fats with no hunger.Stop smoking and reduce alcohol.Be composed, moderate and restrained.Use common sense to combat the invisible enemy.Don't look for “s...hole” countries in Africa, look at your own glass house – 345 000 deaths.Think back to 1960, JFK. “Think not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." The spirit of Harambee, together is better and stronger.
