The land belongs to the people

We, the concerned community members of Vaalgras have filed our grievances with all the Ministers of Local Government and Housing as well as with Presidents that served between 2009 till date, but to no avail.
During the chieftainship of the incumbent chief's father, Samuel Stephanus, the contemporaries of the time contributed materially, technically and in kind to create the notorious small Ram Camp at Vredefontein, Vaalgras for the usage of the subsistence farmers of the time. This was in 1963, whilst the current deposed chief was in his twenties.
However, he has an unbecoming, bad proclivity of claiming to own all projects initiated by his father during his tenure of office. His father did not do these things alone, but together with his traditional councillors and the old men of the time.
Of late about two to three people farming at Vredefontein used this Ram Camp as solution to avoid hiring shepherds.
The deposed leadership has failed to exercise their powers and mandate over these two to three farmers, after they took a resolution that all farmers grazing there illegally should have vacated the Camp by 21 February 2016 or face eviction.
According to information to my disposal, the //Kharas Regional Land Board intervened by carrying out a meticulous probe to establish who the legitimate owner of this Camp is. It has eventually transpired that it is a community asset and they are the only ones who can order someone to have his/her livestock removed from this Camp.
The deposed leadership was even adviced to register this portion of land in the name of the traditional authority.
The other thorn in the eye is that they want to take the fencing material to the controversial Farm Heichas to go and rehabilitate the camps there. This farm was purchased by the Government a few years ago to extend the traditional communal land of Vaalgras.
