The 'lost boys' at the robot – Quo Vadis?
DR. A.C. OBHOLZER WRITES:
A child is a blessing and a responsibility. A child is not just another happening. His/her name is tomorrow!
It has however, become a common sight to meet children in school time begging at robots.
These children are lost to a better future – street children, glue sniffers, shebeens, prostitution and criminality – cul-de-sac.
Their future potential is never reached, physically, emotionally or in the labour market.
An unplanned, unwanted, unaffordable, unloved, neglected child is an “abused” child. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. If you cannot offer a child food, clothing, shelter, love and guidance, you are guilty of “child abuse”.
Belinda Gates of the “Bill and Belinda Gates Foundation” have targeted, planned, spaced children in family to break the vicious cycle of poverty and malnutrition (recent report from Burkina Faso, Oagadugu, West Africa and two million people like Namibia).
In order to achieve Vision 2030, we have to develop our human potential to the full, to achieve employment, peace and prosperity. The mother/child wellness is the very foundation for a better future.
A woman who has a child out of wedlock, without finishing school or learning a skill, handicaps herself and her child. Pensioners are not there to look after the next generation.
In the MoHSS – Health Passport, the question is asked: “Can you really afford more children?” Use family planning methods.
Don't graduate to parenthood before you have finished school, learnt a skill, have a stable relationship and a steady income.
Contraception and sexual relationship education must be made freely accessible in a user-friendly way. Sex happens. Morality and the church will not look after an “accident.”
For a better future – Vision 2030. A luta continua, vitória é certa.
“Children are the most vulnerable citizens in any society, and the greatest of our treasures!” – Nelson Mandela.
