UNAM beat Kudus to extend lead

The University of Namibia extended their lead at the top of the log to a formidable 17 points, after beating Kudus 37-26 in weekend 9 of the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) Premier League on Saturday.
The match was played at Narraville Stadium in Walvis Bay.
The win away from home has put the university team in a cruising position with 45 points.
FNB UNAM scored four tries – two by centre Milaan van Wyk and one each by flank Freddy Puriza and hooker Jeandre Cloete. All were converted by left wing Denver Murorua, who also added three penalties for their 37 points on the day. Their four tries earned the reigning champions a bonus point.
Kudus, who managed to score three tries, are still fifth on the log with 20 points.
The other match saw Khomasdal's FNB Western Suburbs beat FNB Wanderers 33-27 at the latter's home in Pionierspark.
The bench players featured strongly for Suburbs, scoring three of their five tries (Uno Katjiuongua, Collins Omalu and Russell van Wyk) alongside the five-pointers by left wing Dumarscho Hartung and right wing Nikin Cloete.
Four tries were converted (Ricardo Swartz three, Justin Nel one), while Wanderers scored four tries to gain a bonus point despite the defeat. The White Stallions, led by centre Enem Kritzinger on the day, scored two tries through fullback Rudi Pretorius and one each through hooker Stefan Hattingh and centre Stiaan van der Merwe. Pretorius also added seven points off the kicking tee.
With the losing bonus point Wanderers remain second on the log, 17 points behind UNAM. They have 28 points from eight matches played.
Trustco United, whose away match against Reho Falcon was postponed until 16 June 2018 due to the unavailability of referees, are now fourth on the log with 23 points.
After defeating Wanderers, Suburbs moved up to third place on the log with 27 points.
Rehoboth are in sixth position with 19 points, while Reho Falcons are bottom of the log with one point.
