Van Rhyn builds its team

A successful team building workshop that commenced with ice-breakers to get the teachers acquainted and ended with vigorous recreational activities, was held by the Van Rhyn Primary School on Saturday, 17 January. As part of the team building exercises, staff members were given a task to analyse positive and effective qualities of their colleagues and to identify various issues of focus. Giving a radical and practical team building approach on issues such as communication, trust building and team work was Mr Lesley Losper, a team training consultant and a specialist on developing positive organizational cultures across schools in Namibia. The highlight of the day was practical hands-on exercises with an intention to prove that communication, trust building and team work are an essential part of an effective team. What followed thereafter was an intense workout, filled with team building games and strategies of winning, where staff members battled it out in different group exercises, a minefield game and finally an intense bhati balls team competition. Ms Delmane Titus, a convener teacher for team building activities at the school who spearheaded the event on behalf of the management, invited all staff members to be part of the success emanating from this team play at the school. The school intends to hold this event on a regular basis in order to motivate teachers and to get the team ready and inspired for the new academic year.
