Walfisch Karneval draws to an end
The 7th annual Walfisch Karneval (WAKA) concluded the past weekend.
The motto this year is 'Wir stellen alles auf'n Kopp' which means 'we turn everything upside down'. The karneval kicked off with the Prinzenball, followed by the Wakika on 4 and 5 August. Here the new Wakika prinzenpaar for 2017 was also announced. Prinz Robert der I, der bomben Schütze and Prinzessin Xia, die I, die lekkas Künstlerin, will be reigning for the next year. The WAKA Prinzenpaar is Prinz Jaco der I, der eiskalte Hecht, and Prinzessin Tammy die I, die Dauerstudentin.
The WAKA continued with the International Evening and concluded with the float procession through town this past weekend. The procession started at the municipality and proceeded through Sam Nujoma Avenue all the way to the Atlantis Sport Club, where the Kehraus was held to officially conclude the festivities.
