Staff Reporter - The Namibian catering industry is fierce because, well, everyone knows Namibians love to eat. Welwitschia Catering and Cleaning Services is a 100% Namibian company and an emerging market leader in the country, offering a complete management package in the catering and hospitality industry. The company also incorporates the peripheral services that clients wish to outsource that are not their core business.

The company does not run short of national appeal with operations throughout the country. Apart from having business interests Oranjemund, Luderitz, and Windhoek, Welwitschia Catering and Cleaning Services has spread its wings to the Erongo Region, having recently signed a contract with Swakop Uranium.

Established in 1995, the company’s areas of specialization include ctering, hospitality and serviced accommodation, cleaning services for offices, underground zones, domestic waste, wash bay cleaning, conveyor belt cleaning and spillage cleaning. Welwitschia can also offer canteen and guesthouse services, or even public town cleaning and maintenance such as sewerage plant, landfill sites, gardening, and general waste removal. The company is versed in plant and mine maintenance as well as site security services.

“Through our effective supply chain, we strive to achieve a 100% purchase through Namibian suppliers. This should be viewed as an initiative and empowering tool aimed at empowering previously-disadvantaged individuals as well as having a positive socio-economic impacts in local communities, says group HR manager Martin Mbambus.

He feels the future of Welwitschia Catering and Cleaning Services looks promising, “as the majority of our team is young and energetic. We are proud of our demographic diversity, with the majority of our senior managers relatively young and under the age of 40. The team is led by our Operations Director, who has more than 29 years of experience in the industry,” Mbambus said.

“At our company we promote a culture of continuous learning and development amongst our senior management, making us flexible and responsive to our clients’ needs in line with the company’s vision. Apart from being one of the market leaders, as a diversified business we offer the most competitive rates.
