Wernhil Park meets stationary needs of O&L adopted schools
Wernhil Park – a property of Broll Namibia which is a subsidiary of the Ohlthaver & List (O&L) Group - last week handed over school stationary valued at N$12,000 to the Moses Garoëb Project School and the Monte Christo Project School in the Moses Garoëb constituency, Havanna resettlement area, Windhoek.
With education as one of its main focus areas in its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) agenda, the O&L Group adopted the two schools just more than a year ago and has since received ongoing support from the group and its operating companies.
During the past festive season, Wernhil Park hosted the Christmas Wish List Campaign. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 years old could take part by indicating on the Christmas Wish List at Wernhil Park what they want for Christmas – valued at not more than N$6,000, together with a motivation letter on why they deserve these gifts. Broll Namibia Marketing & Public Relations Manager, Sylvia Rusch: “The Child with the most heart-warming letter won the competition and also had the opportunity to choose one of the 2 schools to which a charitable donation from Wernhil Park should go. The winner, 9-year old Elifas Kleopas, chose the Moses Garoëb Project School. In the spirit and season of giving, Wernhil Park Centre Management decided to extend the same value donation to Monte Christo Project School. Both schools are in dire need of stationary and this is part of our contribution to give back to our community by doing something that adds value to the lives of those less privileged, and our surrounding communities at large, in line with the O&L Group purpose of 'Creating a future, enhancing life' for all.”
The Monte Christo Project School received 4 White Boards and 4 White Board stationary starter packs – all valued at N$6,000 while the Moses Garoëb Project School received 514 x A4 10 Pocket Flip Files to the value of N$6,000.
At the same handing over ceremony attended by officials from the Directorate of Education, Arts and Culture: Khomas Region, the Monte Christo Project School received a lightweight house, to be used as an ablution facility from RFs Craft Metals cc as a donation. The owners, husband and wife Dietmar and Evi Pistorius followed the media coverage on the Monte Christo Project School and were inspired to make a contribution. Dietmar: “We have been inspired by media reports on the annual O&L Christmas Tree Project for these schools, specifically the one of last year, and identified the opportunity to provide this ablution facility in contribution to the health and well-being of the learners.”
The 1, 25 x 1, 25m lightweight house is valued at N$8,600.
