It is not always the charcoal responsible for the veldfires. It should be a law that ALL farmers, commercial, new farmers and resettlement farmers have to make a CLEAN fire break on the borders of the farm and also clean a camp or have a firebreak in the middle of the farm. Each farmer MUST have a water tank and some fire fighting equipment. And farmers doing charcoal burning must have insurance. It is time that whoever is responsible for a veldfire, will be charged by all farmers affected. Government is responsible for all resettlement farms. And those charcoal burners without permit must also be locked up. And farmers bordering a resettlement farm must make double sure that their borders have an even better and bigger fire break. This is Namibia, we have to look, organise and protect ourselves.
They are blasting in town next to my house without any warning or notice or concent. My dogs are in a panic state. What happened to rules and regulations? This is not the end of this story.
