Due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in China and the significant health threat that it poses worldwide, there is a real risk for the virus to also spread to Namibia. It is well known that Namibia's medical fraternity is under severe strain under normal circumstances and that it is surely not capable to deal with a virus outbreak of this magnitude.
It is customary for many Chinese citizens working in Namibia to visit their families in China every year during January and February for the country's New Year celebrations, and these Chinese nationals are due to return to Namibia in the next few weeks.
