Dink weer, julle vat vet kanse.
According to Deeds Office records, of 82.4 million hectares of land in Namibia 13.6 million consists of national parks and restricted areas. Of the remaining 68 million hectares, 30 million hectares is communal land, i.e. land held by the state in trust on behalf of the traditional authorities (who are all on their payroll as well). The balance of 38 million hectares is all other land used: all town lands, all mining areas, as well as all land for farming and tourism. Of this 38 million hectares the GRN and previously disadvantaged farmers own 9.5 million hectares. Since 1992 the GRN has waived their first option to bay an additional 5 million hectares out of 8 million that was offered for sale. The government therefor owns or controls 60% of all land – and not the other way around like HG claimed at the UN.
