Witel Service Provider, a tier 1 internet service provider operating in Namibia, has just announced that they have boosted their existing international capacity by adding a STM-16 (2.5Gbps) undersea cable route to their network.

“This will certainly boost our ability to control network performance, pricing and reliability,” says Jacques Rautenbach, non-executive director and investor in Witel.

This advancement will greatly improve Witel’s offering and is a testament to their commitment to invest in Namibia’s capacity to leverage the fourth industrial revolution’s opportunities for growth.

Direct access

Capacity on international undersea and overland cable systems ensures redundancy for Witel’s extensive solution portfolio, which includes a range of flexible last mile and internet connectivity options; managed network solutions (SD-WAN); cloud and hosting offerings; and security services, all provided with attractive market-leading performance criteria.

“Witel connects directly to WACS (West Africa Cable System) and by doing so, has limited their dependency on other providers. Additionally, through direct peering, Witel can improve routing and caching services to ensure improved pricing and the performance of application, video and content services,” he added.

With its own core as well as national last mile network in major centres across the country, and a range of service providers between towns, Witel offers a full suite of ICT solutions to the home and corporate market, enabled by an investment deal concluded with Echo International in 2020.
