With a splash of colour
Chewan Coetzee (21) and Dimitrio Groenewald (21), the founders of Namibia’s first foam mobile car wash, had an idea for a very long time to start something exciting and unique. The car wash was officially launched on 12 February.

They both love cars - clean ones in particular - and were always hanging out at a car wash when they get their own cars cleaned. They then came to the realisation that people love to hang out and socialise while having their car washed, so they decided to start a car wash. However, not just a regular car wash, a colour car wash.
To see a car immersed in some colour foam was enough to bring out the little kid inside of them. They felt that this could potentially be a successful business.
“We couldn’t just be another car wash,” Coetzee said. Apart from cleaning cars exceptionally well and paying extra attention to detail, they decided to introduce a colour foam and colour wax.
A set location is in the pipeline. Coetzee and Groenewald are still exploring all their options because they want to create a cosy and relaxing hangout spot. However, for now, they are mobile.
Both Coetzee and Groenewald are students who decided to start something from scratch, a ‘side hustle’ that they can build into something real and promising and since the two students didn’t have all the capital for rent and expenses, they decided to try and make the car wash as efficient as possible.
“We don’t have all the capital but we still want to get recognised and build a solid name. We want to make it easier for you to get a clean car without all the hassle so we do pick-ups and drop-offs, and we also come and wash your car at your own home,” the entrepreneurs said.
The new high gloss colour foam and wax wash guarantees to leave your car glossy and shinier than ever before. The products not only completely renew your car but also glazes the vehicle in a protective overlay that shields body paint against elements such as dust and bird droppings. The team can do deep interior cleaning and they’re in the process of getting the ‘colourful fam’ hooked up with luxury air freshener fragrances like Dior’s Sauvage and Gucci Oud, to name a few.
“A lot is still to come and we’re very excited and pulling out all the stops!”
Targeting the youth
The idea of the mobility of the car wash is to cater for people with less time on their hands but the colour puts the fun into the car wash, which makes their target market the younger generation. To inspire aspiring youth, Groenewald said “work hard and always remember and live by what your parents/grandparents taught you”.
“Values like integrity, respect and stewardship will take you very far in life. Keep working hard and focus only on what you want in life. Let your desires be your fuel,” he added.
Coetzee said: “My advice to the youth would be to go for whatever you want in life, create/start up anything your heart desires because you never know how it can turn out. You don’t have to go big, just start small and be patient. Don’t rush your life, however, starting at a younger age can be a huge advantage for one in the future.”
