Its prize giving season at the various schools where learners are awarded for their hard work.
Kuisebmond Secondary School in Walvis Bay held its annual prize-giving ceremony for Grade 11 and AS level on Monday, honouring learners who demonstrated outstanding academic performance throughout the year.
The highlight of the day was Johnson Haikela, a Grade 11 learner, who was announced as the Dux learner of the year 2024. Not only did he excel in his academics, but he is also actively involved in extra-mural activities outside the school.
Haikela expressed joy and satisfaction, stating, “I am honoured to be the Senior Dux learner of Kuisebmund Secondary School for the year 2024. Receiving this award is truly thrilling to me. It took a great deal of hard work, dedication, and a deep understanding of my field of study to achieve this honour.”
“As for my future aspirations, I am committed to pursuing a career in the field of Biology, where I hope to make meaningful contributions to my country, Namibia,” Haikela added.
Additionally, he concluded with a word of encouragement to his peers, stating, “my advice is simple: stay dedicated, work hard, and never stop believing in your ability to achieve greatness."
Learners were awarded in various subjects for topping the class, grade, and the school.
Johnson Haikela was awarded as the best learner in Biology (92.50%), Agricultural Science (90%), Mathematics (90%), Chemistry (90%), and Physical Science (74.38%).
Overall, Tulela Nghipulile was awarded the best learner in Languages Grade 11, while Ruben Ndimunhu was best in Mathematics Grade 12, and Glalasius Klim was best in Biology Grade 12.
Furthermore, the awards proceeded to honour the best learners in various fields of study. Iipinge Festus Grade 11 was awarded the best in Social Science, and Ruben Ndimunhu was best in Social Science Grade 12.
Haikela Johnson continued to shine by topping the Best Grade 11 learner list, followed by Frieda Haimbodi, with Rabanus Gabriel in third place.
In Grade 12, Joseph Kashweka topped the AS Level, followed by Johannes Shilongo, and Renathe Magadhi in third.
Special awards were given to the most disciplined and well-behaved learners in each grade.
Krisjan Ndeshipanda was awarded the best-behaved learner in Grade 11, and Tuwilika Amukwa in Grade 12.
The school gave a special thanks to Dr Elago Mbadhi from the Empathy Clinic for being the main and only sponsor of the event, "We are thankful for his generous sponsorship towards the prize-giving ceremony. His support made the event a great success and truly motivated our learners to strive for excellence."
