#JustIn: Man dies after hit-and-run
The police in the Kavango West region are appealing for public assistance in tracing a suspect who allegedly killed a man in a hit-and-run in Rundu yesterday.
The acting regional commander, detective chief inspector Hofni Natangwe Angala, confirmed the incident which happened around 11:30 on the B-10 road close to Hilka Park.
According to Angala, the dead body of an unidentified man was discovered on B-10 road.
“It is suspected that the deceased was bumped by an unidentified motor vehicle which fled the scene. Cases of culpable homicide, failing to stop a vehicle after an accident, failing to ascertain injuries and render assistance are being investigated,” he said.
“The face of the deceased cannot clearly be identified due to the nature of injuries sustained. However, he was wearing grey jean trousers and a black and white striped t-shirt,” he added.
He urged public members who are missing a relative to visit the Rundu state mortuary for possible identification of the body.
“The police are also cautioning pedestrians to be vigilant when crossing roads and drivers to adhere to all road traffic rules to avoid unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
Anyone with information that could lead to the capture of the suspect is urged to contact detective chief inspector Kakoro at 081 258 2334 or detective inspector Kapolo at 081 394 8507. Identities will be confidential.
