A newly crowned Miss Coastal High

Jo-An Vahongaifa, a 17 year old Grade 11 student with a passion for reading and chess, has been crowned Miss Coastal High School 2024. Vahongaifa was awarded the title during schools annual pageantry competition. In addition to Vahongaifa’s victory, Eleanor Bock was named 1st Runner-Up, and Meverly Mauano secured the 2nd Runner-Up position.

The event is held annually to celebrate talent and leadership among high school students, Vahongaifa stood out not only for her composure but also for her passion and dedication to using her new platform to inspire and uplift others.

An Inspirational Victory

Reflecting on her victory, Vahongaifa expressed both excitement and gratitude. "Winning the Miss Coastal High pageant has been an incredible honour, it’s not just about the title, but about how I can use this platform to inspire others," she said.

One of her key motivations for entering the pageant was to encourage others to be bold and pursue their passions. "I want to inspire people, especially young girls, to believe in themselves and go after their dreams whether it’s in modelling, academics, or any other passion. It’s important to stay confident and never give up on what you want to achieve."

A Reign Focused on Community and Environmental Impact

As Miss Coastal High 2024, Vahongaifa has ambitious plans for her reign. She is not only focused on representing her school with pride but also on engaging with the wider community. "During my time as Miss Coastal High, I plan to focus on community engagement and motivation. I want to initiate programs that promote environmental awareness, as I believe it's crucial to create a sustainable future for the next generation," she explained.

Vahongaifa’s commitment to giving back to her community is deeply rooted in her values of discipline, integrity, and leadership. "I believe in uplifting others. Discipline is important to me, and I make sure it guides my pursuits. Staying focused on my schoolwork and personal goals is a priority, and I want to inspire those around me to embrace their potential."

Balancing Academics and Ambition

While pageantry has been a significant part of Vahongaifa’s journey, her academic aspirations are equally impressive. She dreams of becoming a software engineer, focusing on innovative technology projects that can solve real-world problems. "In the future, I see myself working on projects that leverage technology to create user-friendly applications, especially in the field of education," she shared. "I’m passionate about developing solutions that make learning more accessible and engaging for students."

Vahongaifa is committed to continuous learning and self-improvement, with plans to further develop her technical skills in the coming years. "Whether it’s pageantry or software engineering, I want to encourage young people to be excited about their future. The potential to make a difference is within all of us, and I believe that with the right mindset, anything is possible."
