Golfing for Charity
Fundraising event this Friday
The His House Frail Care Centre, a dedicated home catering to the elderly in Meersig, Walvis Bay, is scheduled to host its annual Charity Golf Day this Friday at the Walvis Bay Golf Club.
This event aims to raise essential funds to support the centre’s ongoing operational and maintenance costs.
Ina Jones, the event organiser, emphasized the importance of the funds raised, stating that they will be used to care for residents who aren’t able to pay the full price.
“I’ve got four people who are subsidised because they cannot afford to pay the maintenance fees, and another two who do not have any family support and who don't receive funds from the government, so we need the funds to support our people.”
The tournament will feature a 3-ball Alliance Scramble Drive, starting with a shotgun at 12:00, and is limited to 21 teams. Each team can purchase mulligans for N$100 per player, allowing for an extra shot. Additionally, a watering hole and snacks will be available at Hole No. 6, where donations will be kindly accepted.
Teams of three can enter the competition for N$1 800. Jones stated that the money raised from the event will be allocated towards expenses not covered by monthly care fees, unforeseen maintenance costs, and necessary upgrades to the centre’s facilities.
“We are currently accommodating 24 residents, including four individuals who depend on subsidies and fundraising efforts like this.”
Interested parties are welcome to sponsor a hole for N$1 000, which will be used for stalls. Anyone with queries regarding sponsorships and participation can contact Ina Jones at 081 205 9909 or via email at [email protected] to get involved or register their teams.
