The International School of Walvis Bay is hosting its annual Food Festival this Saturday.
The International School of Walvis Bay (ISWB) is gearing up to host its annual Food Festival on Saturday, where the community can get a taste of international food. This year, the school is aiming to go bigger and better with their festival.
Each grade, from Year 1 to A and AS levels, has the opportunity to represent a country and showcase the country’s food. The delicacies on display will include:
- Canada: Buffalo boneless chicken wings, poutine, and Timbits
- South Africa: Boerewors rolls and pancakes
- India: Various curries and spring rolls
- France: Crepes, eclairs, and macarons
- Brazil: Hotdogs, brigadeiros, and fruit kebabs
- Germany: Curry bratwurst brötchen and beer
- Namibia: Kapana, salsa, and vetkoek
- Zimbabwe: Mazondo and pap, tripe and pap
Italy: Lasagna and tiramisu
- America: Hamburgers, corn dogs, and doughnuts
The “Oasis of the World” stall will offer various cool drinks. Local vendors will also have their goods on display, along with jumping castles and face painting for the kids.
Additionally, a procession of all the learners will take place through Walvis Bay town from 09:00 to 10:00. Another highlight is a raffle draw where the winner can walk away with N$20 000 as the main prize, N$12 000 as the second prize, and N$7 000 as the third prize.
Participants can buy a country flag for N$100 and use these flags to stake their claim in the designated area on the Walvis Bay Municipality lawn, in the block of the grid where they believe the prize will be discovered.
“Community members still have until Saturday to buy their ticket, as this is all in an effort to raise funds for a new school bus,” said teacher Nicole Paschke.
On the day, festival-goers will also be entertained with live music by renowned artist Joharetha Nel.
The festival is set to take place on Saturday, 29 June from 10:00 to 14:00 at the Walvis Bay Municipal Grounds.
