Northern farmers trained to combat lung sickness
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) is supporting the agriculture, water and land reform ministry through its directorate of veterinary services (DVS) in their efforts to combat contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), also referred to as lung sickness, in the northern communal areas of Namibia.
Recent raining workshops of farmers were conducted through the FAO and ministry partnership, during which essential equipment like camping equipment, personal protective equipment, laboratory equipment and vaccination equipment were distributed to various government stations in the Kavango West and Kunene regions.
Farmers and veterinary officials were trained on awareness, prevention and control measures of lung sickness.
The first training took place last week at Mpungu constituency in Kavango West, followed by Mankumpi constituency in the same region.
In the Kunene Region, training took place at Etanga and Otjinungua in the Epupa constituency.
