NWR gateman an inspiring example
Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) has recognised Mathias Haikali, who has served as a gateman at the company for 33 years, for his exemplary service.
According to spokesperson Nelson Ashipala, the dedicated gateman who hails from Lüderitz was stationed at Jakkalsputz Campsite during the festive season.
“In a heart-warming display of appreciation and recognition, NWR has been inundated with compliments from fishermen, particularly lauding the efforts of Haikali.”
Ashipala said Haikali not only demonstrated hard work over the festive season, but also showcased a welcoming personality that left a lasting impression on tourists.
“His exemplary service did not go unnoticed and upon closure of the camp, Haikali found himself receiving accolades from the managing director Matthias Ngwangwama.”
Luxury stay
Haikali, who emphasised that he enjoys working with people and reaffirmed his commitment to his role, was awarded a luxury stay for himself and a partner at one of NWR’s resorts.
“This gesture not only celebrates Mathias' hard work, but also reflects the commitment of NWR to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of its staff members,” Ashipala said.
Haikali expressed his gratitude for the recognition.
As the local community celebrates this well-deserved accolade, Haikali’s story stands as an inspiring example of how dedication and a welcoming spirit can make a lasting impact, even in seemingly humble roles, Ashipala said.
