NWR recognised for support of Khorixas community
Khorixas mayor Patience !Hoaes recently visited the Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) head office to hand over a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the company's ongoing support and contributions to the community.
She also provided a report on a recently held Mayoral Gala Dinner and Mayoral Cup in the town. The event, which took place over the weekend of 27 September, was the first of its kind and is set to become an annual highlight on the town's calendar.
According to NWR spokesperson Nelson Ashipala, during the gala dinner, a total of N$56 850 was pledged, while the total income received amounted to N$180 000 from activities such as a soccer tournament and food stalls.
These funds will play a crucial role in the construction of a youth centre in Khorixas aimed at combating the growing challenge of alcohol and substance abuse among the town's youth, he said.
Ashipala further expressed the company's pride in being part of this important initiative. He affirmed NWR's ongoing commitment to the annual event and assured its support for future projects to uplift the town and its residents.
"NWR is happy to have come on board and assures more future support. We will continue to do more to uplift Khorixas."
NWR operates the Khorixas Rest Camp and runs a hospitality school campus in the town, demonstrating its ongoing investment in the Kunene Region's development.
