Clicks Namibia empowers future leaders
Grooming for managerial tasks
Training Implementation Programme with the Business School of Excellence
Having about 24 Clicks stores in Namibia, the company has noticed the need to develop an annual trainee store manager programme. Clicks Namibia and the Business School of Excellence will work together to groom and train ten trainee managers from the coastal, northern, southern and central parts of Namibia to one day take up managerial positions within the company.
The first session of took place on 14 March at the Gateway Conference Centre in Windhoek. The trainee managers are expected to complete five modules before a new group begins the following year.
During the training programme, attendees are required to keep a file of evidence where all assessments will be kept to keep track of their progress and evaluate how well they progress. Besides written and comprehensive tasks assigned, the store managers return to their respective branches for three weeks to practically execute and implement learned skills.
Clicks Namibia country manager Corne Visser says developing a healthy culture within the company is important and needs to be supplemented with assistance to do so effectively.
“It is important to groom and shape future leaders of the company, because the last thing you want is to set them up for failure. There must be tools and experiences given to those we would like to see thrive in leadership and managerial positions of the company. Creating a safe learning and working environment is not only an investment, but it eventually brings forth amazing rewards,” he said.
The Business School of Excellence has designed the programme in a user-friendly manner where trainees can relate with their workplaces and work on real-life experiences they may face moving forward. Additionally, the programme contains elements of investigation, planning, presenting findings and outcomes, all of which are beneficial to different areas of work they may encounter. The programme is fully funded by the company and is accredited in Namibia. Those who complete the programme receive recognition from Clicks Namibia and the Busines School of Excellence.
