Dominating the stairway to success
Ndadhinitha Ndoroma Zealously climbs the corporate ladder
Ndadhinitha Ndoroma has proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the corporate world, and has shown great determination and perseverance throughout his career.
Born and raised in the capital city, Ndoroma attended St Paul’s College Namibia and matriculated in 2012. He then went on to do an honours degree in Economics and International Trade at Coventry University in the United Kingdom and graduated in 2016.
In October 2016, Ndoroma was appointed by Higher Economic Intelligence (HEI) as a junior economist. Here he was responsible for conducting economic research and industry analysis and communicating his findings to the chief economist and relevant stakeholders.
Ndoroma spent eight months in this position and joined Old Mutual’s 12-month graduate programme in May 2017. Upon completion of the programme, Ndoroma was permanently appointed as operations specialist in the Old Mutual Wealth department. After two years he was then appointed as a development manager in the Personal Finance department for another two years.
Ndoroma was recently appointed as the Old Mutual Namibia operations manager for the Retail Affluent Business Unit, where he continues to show his dedication and commitment. When Careers Hub asked Ndoroma about his new responsibilities, he said: “In my current role I am responsible for the end-to-end value chain for our affluent clientele. I am responsible for ensuring that business systems, processes and customer touch points are all working efficiently and effectively.”
It has been a big adjustment for Ndoroma in his new role; nevertheless, it has been an exciting journey. “I have had the privilege of interacting directly with Business Unit executives and gathering more insight into the day-to-day operations of the company as a whole. I have also come to better understand our company’s value proposition and how we have set ourselves apart from our competitors in the market,” Ndoroma added.
Ndoroma has experienced quite a few challenges as well as achievements in his journey thus far. As a development manager in his first year, Ndoroma’s sales team was awarded the team of the year award, which was also where Ndoroma picked up the development manager of the year award.
In 2021 he won the sales manager competition for having the highest sales percentage against the business plan as well as the highest business retention rate. As his reward, Ndoroma won a ticket to see the Formula One final race in Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions he was unable to attend.
One of the major challenges in his career has always been proving his competency in the managerial roles he occupied. “Being only 27 and at times having older colleagues reporting directly to you, it may at times be overwhelming,” he says.
However, with time he came to realise that he is in the position because he has been deemed capable by the business. The supportive nature of the Old Mutual work environment has also made that transition a lot easier for him and he says, “I am truly grateful for all my fellow Mutualites that I engage with regularly.”
Apart from being a manager, Ndoroma enjoys watching sports, football and Formula 1, reading wellness and lifestyle books.
What motives him is the that Old Mutual is a company that takes care of its employees and encourages career growth within the company, whether it is through funding for further qualifications or simply through the wellness programme that focuses on the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of the employees.
