Leading the tech industry
Antonio Acevedo has been in love with technology since he was 13 years old. He created his first website in an attempt to write a couple of lines of code and see how the computer did what he asked it to do.
“It seemed like something magical to me from the very first day,” he says. Now, 18 years later, Antonio is the technical leader at JABU logistics, doing what he loves.
Antonio studied engineering at the University of Seville in Spain and has been working in the world of technology for eight years. “All my professional experience has been earned and developed within start-ups or high-growth companies and always in the role of technical leader or chief technical officer.”
Now at JABU Logistics he is facing a different challenge but is relishing every moment. “I am facing the same problems that I have already solved many times but in a totally different context, which makes the job even more interesting.”
Apart from the world of technology, Antonio enjoys outdoor activities like rock climbing or hiking with friends. He loves being with the people he cares about. “My free time is spent having a drink, playing board or video games, or with the people, I love: family, friends, and my partner.”
His typical day at the office gets really busy, as he remotely works from Spain. “My day starts very early with some catch-up meetings with JABU colleagues, followed by checking my email. Once that is done, I start reviewing the work of my team and have quick meetings with them to mentor and guide them. I finish the day preparing my agenda for the next day to take 100% advantage of the remaining hours and make full use of my day.”
With plans for the future, he intends to make sure the JABU Logistic team grows and on a personal note he is working hard towards his dream of buying a house and settling down with his partner.
He urges to the youth to focus on their dreams and give it their all when pursuing their careers. “Study what you are passionate about; if you like what you do and you do it with passion, life will give it back to you.”
