Oryx Properties: A Pillar of Namibian Retail Excellence

At the forefront of the local listed property sector
Using innovative and progressive solutions to create sustainable economic, social and environmental benefits for stakeholders.
With a N$3.8 billion property portfolio owning 37 properties, Oryx has been a symbol of excellence and innovation in Namibia for more than 20 years and is synonymous with major shopping centres such as Maerua Mall and Gustav Voigts in Windhoek and Dunes Mall in Walvis Bay as well as smaller, well-positioned hubs including Baines Shopping Centre and the tranquil Urban Village at Elisenheim.

2024 will see the Group building on its reputation of ingenuity and mastery as excitement abounds with the transformation of Maerua Mall into a dynamic "Live Work Shop Play" environment. This is set to revolutionise the retail landscape in Namibia.

Maerua Mall, the flagship mall of Oryx Properties, offers an array of shopping options, family entertainment, and a diverse selection of local and international tenants.

The newly acquired Dunes Mall originally opened its doors on 26 October 2017 and became part of the Oryx stable on 1 August 2023. Anchored by prominent stores including Checkers, Woolworths and Pick n Pay, and with an array of fresh and captivating retail ventures it is a vibrant hub for local shoppers and coastal visitors.

Oryx is also the proud owner of the iconic Gustav Voigts Centre, the oldest mall in Namibia and a bustling hub in Windhoek's heart. Then there is the Baines Shopping Centre with a variety of shops that serve the surrounding Pionierspark, Hochland Park, and Hochland Rand areas.

You can find tranquillity at Urban Village Elisenheim, a serene lifestyle destination offering convenience and relaxation. There is so much more than meets the eye at the malls of Oryx Property.

The 2025 Oryx Properties strategy is poised for growth and expansion.

Key focus areas include shifting towards long-term decision-making, reducing concentration risk, expanding into unlisted and growth funds, and building internal investment capital reserves. The Group is strategically positioned to capitalise on the next phase of the property cycle and remains optimistic about the future of Namibia in general and the property market in particular.
