Alushe crowned as the new Miss Teen Swakopmund
Not just a beauty contest
The judging panel consisted of personalities with dynamic experiences and positions within the industry.
Alushe Penda (17) was crowned Miss Teen Swakopmund 2023 at the sixth edition of the pageant hosted at the Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre on 14 October.
She also scooped the Miss Photogenic and Public Choice Award.
Penda, a learner at Namib High School, said that her advocacy during her reign will focus on the welfare and protection of babies. She will also be looking towards raising funds for the vulnerable youth and their upbringing.
She expressed gratitude towards her family members who supported her throughout her journey and said she will forever cherish the relationships built throughout.
Marlee Hess (18) was crowned as the first runner-up. Her mother also received an award for being the most supportive parent. Ju-Ann Platt (17) was the second runner-up.
Special Awards
The Top Model Award went to Lavinia Shiningombwe (17) for her outstanding legwork on the ramp.
Zekiyah de Koe (15) was crowned as the Debutant for Miss Teen Swakopmund 2023. The pageant journey included various fitness activities and Roginia van Rhyn (16) received the Fitness Award for being the most fit contestant. The Miss Congeniality Award, formerly known as Miss Personality, was awarded to Kylliki Elago (15).
Sponsorships from Atlantic Audio, Fusion Wellness Spa, The Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre, and First National Bank (FNB) made the event a successful and glamorous occasion.

Leoné van Jaarsveld, who will represent Namibia at the Miss World 2023 pageant, served as the head judge; assisted by Monique Smith, a former Miss Supranational Namibia; Zoe Karsten, Miss Teen Namibia 2022; Jan Paul Adriaanse, a renowned fashion designer; Sarel Haith, a generational beauty pageant mentor; and Olivia Christians van Wyk, a former model and media practitioner.
Miss Teen Swakopmund was established in 2018 by founder and CEO Johnathan Harris. The pageant offers more than just a stage for female performers and acts as a platform for beauty queens to begin successful modeling careers and develop the personal skills needed to advocate for a better cause.
