Two top performing coastal cricket clubs will vie for promotion at the promotional play-offs in Windhoek
The Blue Water Cricket Club first team and the Junior Coastal Cricket Academy (JCCA 1) Cricket Club first team will represent the coast at the promotional play-offs scheduled for Windhoek on a yet-to-be-announced date.
Blue Waters 1 finished at the top of the log with 16 points after winning all their matches (4). JCCA 1 and Sparta 1 both recorded two wins and two losses and finished with eight points. JCCA 1, however, claimed the second spot due to a superior run rate (1.4647) over Sparta 1 (-1.3030).
Max Hiengo of Blue Water 1 is the top run scorer and bowler at this stage. He scored 233 runs, including eighteen 4’s and fifteen 6’s. Heingo also took nine wickets for 89 runs in 19 overs and produced 87 dot balls in four matches.
Over the weekend, Sparta Cricket Club 1 defeated Swakopmund Cricket Club with 17 runs in a Division 1 Coastal League 30 overs match played at the Venita Stadium in Swakopmund on Sunday 10 March. Swakopmund Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sparta scored 280 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted 30 overs.
Shalako Groenewald was in commanding form with the bat. He scored 131 runs (including fifteen 4’s and seven 6’s) from 72 balls before retiring due to an injury. His innings, however, earned him the man of the match award. Henry Oliver also added 63 runs (including five 4’s and two 6’s) from 73 balls. MC Human was the top-performing bowler for Swakopmund Cricket Club. He took three wickets in three overs for 28 runs. He also produced 10 dot balls.
Sparta bowled Swakopmund Cricket Club out for 263 for the loss of eight wickets in 30 overs. Gert Kok scored 100 runs (including twelve 4’s and five 6’s) from 63 balls for Swakopmund Cricket Club. Marcu Mertens also added 92 runs (including nine 4’s and four 6’s) from 60 balls. Helmut Mack was the top-performing bowler for Sparta. He claimed three wickets for 28 runs in five overs and also bowled 17 dot balls.
The Junior Coastal Cricket Academy (JCCA) 1 defeated Blue Water 2 by 92 runs in a Division 1 Coastal League 30 overs match played at the Walvis Bay Oval on Saturday 9 March. Blue Waters won the toss and elected to bowl first.
JCCA 1 scored 251 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 30 overs. Blue Water replied with 159 runs for the loss of 10 wickets in 22.3 overs.
Dian Neethling was the top batsman for JCCA 1. He scored 119 runs (including ten 4’s and two 6’s) from 77 balls. His innings earned him the man of the match award. Raymond Duvenhage also added 35 runs (including four 4’s and two 6’s) from 24 balls. Aino Haukongo, Justus Hangula, and John Calaca each claimed two wickets for Blue Water.
Chivi Samson was the best batsman for Blue Water 2. He scored 71 runs (including five 4’s and five 6’s) from 56 balls. Justus Hangula and John Calaca also added 24 runs each. Raymond Duvenhage, Tiaan van der Westhuizen, and Sebastian van Vuuren each claimed three wickets for JCCA 1.

Geneous Mutsira was the best bowler for Swakomund Cricket Club. He took three wickets for 41 runs in 5 overs and also bowled 21 dot balls. Swakopmund Cricket Club managed to score 216 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 30 overs. Kyle de Hilster was the top performer with the bat for Swakopmund Cricket Club. He scored 34 runs (including three 4’s) from 42 balls.
Pro-Ed Old Boys Cricket Club forfeited their match against JCCA 2 at the Pro-Ed field in Swakopmund on Saturday 9 March.
