Boys in blue ready for battle
Blue Boys FC will host Try Again (Saturday) and Oranjemund (Sunday) in Southern Stream First Division matches at the Mondesa Stadium this weekend.
The Saturday match will kick off at 15:00 and the Sunday match at 10:00.
Blue Boys FC recently hosted a series of club-friendly matches, featuring teams from Swakopmund as well as the Erongo Newspaper Cup football team. Blue Boys FC Coach Ashley Olyn was appointed as the coach for the Erongo team, and the initiative in Swakopmund not only served as a platform for friendly competition but also as an opportunity to scout new talent and promote regional youth football.
The Southern Stream 1st Division also had a pending fixture. The match between Black Africa FC and Namibian Correctional Service FC ended in a draw. This ensured that Blue Boys FC is just one point behind the log leaders, Namibia Correctional Service.
According to the Southern Stream 1st Division table, Namibia Correctional Service amassed 26 points from 11 games. They scored eight wins, two draws, and recorded one loss. The prison warders have scored the most goals (29) in the current campaign so far.
Blue Boys is placed second with 25 points from 11 games. The coastal side won eight, drew one, and lost two games. The side conceded only nine goals at this stage of the race. This is the least recorded by all the teams competing in the league and an indication that the boys in blue pack a very tight defense.
Another coastal contender, Eleven Arrows, is placed third on the log with 21 points from 11 matches. Arrows recorded six wins, three draws, and two losses. Former Namibian football greats Black Africa with 10 points and DTS FC with 7 points are currently hanging in the relegation zone.
