Cruise ship season to resume in October

The cruise ship Vasco da Gama could be the first of 11 passenger vessels scheduled to call at the port of Walvis Bay when the cruise season resumes in October.
The cruise season runs between May through October, with many ships visiting Namibian ports from September until May.
According to the provisional port log provided by the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport), the S-class cruise ship with 14 decks, a length of 219 m, and a carrying capacity of 1 258 passengers and 557 crew members, is scheduled to arrive on 29 October.
The Vasco Da Gama - which is owned by Mystic Invest's German cruise brand, Nicko Cruises - will be on a grand world cruise of 183 days which commenced at the port of Lisbon on 10 October. Passengers will visit 90 ports, 40 countries, and five continents before concluding their journey in Lisbon on 8 March 2024. It will also call at the port of Lüderitz before setting sail for Cape Town as part of the first leg of the tour of over 40 days to Mauritius.
November will see the arrival of Zaandam (27th), Costa Deliziosa (28th), and Zuiderdam (29th) at the port of Walvis Bay. Seven passenger vessel visits are scheduled for December. These include the Azamara Pursuit (5th), Aidaura (10th and 24th), Seven Seas Voyager (10th, 15th and 30th) and Silver Spirit on 30 December.
The port log also indicates that 29 cruise ship visits are scheduled to call in 2024 - with 22 cruise ships due to visit in 2025. The Amera could be the first passenger ship arriving in Walvis Bay in 2024. The vessel accommodates 835 passengers on nine decks serviced by a crew of 440. The Africa with Amera cruise visiting seven ports over 25 nights, will depart from Hamburg to Cape Town on 21 December 2023.
