Parents came out in numbers to support their mini-Olympians.
The grade R and 1 learners of Laerskool Walvisbaai had loads of fun at the school’s annual Mini Olympics, which was hosted this past weekend.
It was a fun-filled and adventurous day, as future Olympians were in the making. The school had a total of six activities lined up for the children.
The pool noodle javelin was a way to practice throwing a javelin stick. It is impressive how some of the learners managed to throw it to unimaginable lengths. The bean bag throw was a practice akin to throwing a shot put.
An obstacle course was organised, and the children conquered it with enthusiasm and determination while, most importantly, having fun. In the bag of spring activity, the toddlers enjoyed themselves. Even after a few falls, they managed to get up and complete their activities with a lot of energy and pride.
The steering wheel race brought out a lot in the children, showing focus on the track. The children also had a bike race to top off the fun.
Parents came out in numbers to support their mini-Olympians. While the Wallies and grade R toddlers participated in their activities, their brothers and sisters entertained themselves on a jumping castle and colouring station courtesy of Namib Mills.
The staff and some moms joined hands to make sure everybody was served with a smile at the tuck shop.
The pageantry winners, Mr. and Miss LWB Riego Julie and Le-Jeandre Lewanschek, showed up to support the learners.
