Growing in the finance industry

Steffi De Koe hails from Rehoboth and is pursuing her career in Windhoek.She holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. She previously worked at CRVW Chartered Accountants and Auditors as an assistant accountant and later joined Blue Line Tax and Accounting as an administration manager.Her time spent working in the finance industry has allowed her to see and experience some challenges. “Some of the challenges I experience in my career include technology replacing some of the traditional accounting functions and the need to learn new skills. This can be challenging, but the reward is very satisfying,” she said.De Koe is focused on gaining more skills, which will broaden her knowledge. Thereafter, she intends to further her studies in accounting and finances. She plans on upholding her strong work ethics and eventually growing within the company.While she has always been interested in finances and accounting, she finds that the work can be challenging and rewarding at the same time. She further enjoys working with people and helping them manage their finances.“Some of the career lessons that I have learned are to manage my time, stay organised, and keep very good financial records,” said De Koe.Measuring successThe accounts administrator measures success by meeting all her deadlines and performing duties to the best of her abilities.She therefore advises the youth to never give up on their dreams and goals and to avoid procrastination. “Do the work today, not tomorrow or next week, but do it today, and you will be surprised at how much you can accomplish,” she said.She believes it is essential to set goals and pursue dreams and not stop working on them until they are achieved.De Koe loves baking and decorating cakes in her free time.
