The eagerly anticipated Swakopmund Street Fair will once again be celebrated over three days from 21 to the 23 of December.

The event will see Daniel Tjongarero Avenue being transformed into a lively hub of activity and the municipality announced that for the occasion the street which serves as the venue for the fair, will be partially closed off.

"We encourage the public to make use of alternative routes during this period. The municipality of Swakopmund prides itself on regularly hosting events to promote the town as a holiday destination and by recognising the economic benefits tourism can deliver to the town,” the municipality said on its social media page.

Annalize Swarts, the event organiser said she had received an overwhelming response with approximately 150 applications for stalls. "The fair is not a typical business-related expo. The emphasis is on creating a festive atmosphere. The event is a celebration of community spirit and offer locals and visitors alike an opportunity to come together, socialize, and forge new connections in a festive setting."

A variety of food stalls accommodate fast-food vendors. The accessories section caters for non-consumable products with health care and beauty products, hand-made toys, children’s activities, games, handmade/homemade goods, all sorts of arts and crafts on offer.

Swarts added that the fair also showcases the diversity and talent present within the community through the provision of an environment where people can explore, engage, and enjoy the holiday season. The weekend will be filled with entertainment, cultural displays, and a myriad of stalls offering a variety of goods. The Street Fair promises to be a memorable experience, blending the joy of the holiday season with the warmth of community engagement."
