Karibib Council constructs toilets for street vendors
The council of Karibib constructed two toilets for the use of street vendors in the town.
The local economic development officer, Melody Gontes, said: “The town wants to accommodate and appreciate the street vendors who contribute to its local economy. We used council workers for the construction process.”
Gontes, who did not want to reveal the cost of the project, said that plans are in the pipeline for the construction of a large structure to provide under-roof space for vendors who currently lack an adequate place to do business.
“We plan to extend the structure, and a boundary wall will soon be constructed to facilitate this development.”
The initiative received positive feedback from Karibib community members who expressed their satisfaction with the town’s development efforts.
“That’s what we want. This is the reason we queue up in lines to vote for development,” one resident commented.
