Blue Boys kept their hopes of winning the league title alive with two wins at home over the weekend.

Blue Boys FC scored two notable victories against Davos FC and DTS FC over the weekend in Swakopmund.

Following their impressive form and hard-earned victories, Blue Boys FC now shares the top spot in the Southern Stream First Division league table with Namibia Correctional Service FC, with goal difference being the only distinguishing factor.

Both teams collected 19 points after eight matches (six wins, one loss, and one draw). Namibia Correctional Service FC scored 24 goals and conceded 8 goals. Blue Boys scored 16 goals and conceded six.

Eleven Arrows is placed third on 15 points with four wins, three draws, and three defeats. Mariental Sports Club follows in fourth place with 14 points.

The coastal team’s newest acquisition, Andreas Anton, proved instrumental in the midfield with a man of the match performance against Davos on Saturday.

Andreas created three crucial goals, with Thomas Andreas netting two and Christiaan Doeseb one.

The match against DTS on Sunday proved to be tightly contested. However, a goal scored within the first five minutes by Thomas Andreas set the tone for Blue Boys FC’s determination.

Despite numerous opportunities throughout the match, Blue Boys FC struggled to find the back of the net. Thomas Andreas’s stellar contribution, however, earned him another man of the match accolade.

Blue Boys FC chairperson, Elton Katangolo, was ecstatic after the two wins.

Goal flood

Round 8 of the Southern Stream First Division showcased the competitiveness and excitement of the league.

The teams demonstrated their skills, determination, and tactical awareness, resulting in a total of 17 goals scored in six matches played on Saturday and another 25 goals added on Sunday.

With the season progressing, the battle for the top position promises to provide fans with more thrilling encounters.

Results

The log leaders, Namibian Correctional Service (NCS), continued their dominant form with a 2-0 victory over Date Eleven in Keetmanshoop.

Playing away from home, NCS displayed their defensive prowess and clinical finishing to secure the win.

Eleven Arrows, also a former NPFL outfit, secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory against Deutscher Turn und Sportverein (DTS) FC.

Mariental Sports Club (MSC) showcased their attacking prowess in a thrilling 4-2 victory against newcomers Latinos FC at the Mariental showgrounds.

In a closely contested match, a 10-man O&L Ramblers emerged triumphant with a solitary goal victory over Try Again at J. Stephanus Stadium in Keetmanshoop. Despite being a man down, the Tuchel Street Boys displayed incredible resilience and determination to secure the important win.

The most astonishing result of the round occurred in Oranjemund, where home team Oranjemund FC defeated Namibia’s most successful team, Black Africa, with a scoreline of 2-1. The match ended with a 1-1 halftime score, with both teams scoring own goals in the first half. Oranjemund FC showcased their fighting spirit and eventually claimed a memorable victory.

In Round 9 matches played on Sunday, Eleven Arrows and Davos FC shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw. Oranjemund defeated O&L Ramblers 5-3, Date Eleven defeated Latinos FC 6-3, and Try Again FC defeated Black Africa 4-0. Mariental Sports Club and Namibian Correctional Service also played to a 1-1 draw.
