Passionate about netball
Totally focused
Sports runs through the veins of the newly appointed public relations officer of the Erongo Region Netball Association.
Xanthe Wittmann is the newly appointed public relations officer (PRO) of the Erongo Region Netball Association (ERNA).
“I was astonished when I was elected. This year is my first year back in the netball circle after a long time. I put myself out there because I believe that you cannot complain about anything if you are not willing to make a difference. That is why I made myself eligible for the committee, and I am looking forward to representing the region over the next year,” she said.
Sports run through her veins.
“I participated in different sports disciplines from a young age and was mostly known in the horse-riding community. Netball was always my big love in team disciplines, and I had the privilege to represent my country in both of these disciplines.”
She has a strong, dynamic personality and is not scared to face any challenges.
“I am very straightforward when it comes to arrangements, rules, and decision-making. Some people might see it as being difficult, being the one going against the stream and questioning everything.”
Xanthe says that she was raised to be "perfect”, to always make sure her work is of a high standard, and to be 100% sure that she performs at maximum capacity and nothing less than that.
“This is my way of making sure that every area is covered and that no arrangement falls through the cracks. It’s also the best way to be fully prepared for every unexpected challenge thrown your way during a function or activity that you organised.”
She went through a bad patch over the past few years. “With God’s grace and love, I got better. This only made me stronger as an individual. I learned a lot of life lessons and the value of taking full responsibility for yourself and your actions. I also realized that the world is a very broken place.”
With these lessons learned, she does not just want to be a leader in the community; she also wants to be a role model for the community.
“I would like to be a positive influence for everybody I meet on this journey."
Erongo Netball needs a new head coach and assistant coach for the season.
“If you do meet all the requirements, please apply. The ERNA Exco plans to reach new heights in 2024, and our actions this year will bear testament to this statement. The first official event, the U/21 trials for the U21 Youth World Cup qualifiers, took place on Tuesday at the Kuiseb Netball Courts."
