Seven titles in a row for Wilna

A field of 22 players from Omeya, Windhoek, Walvis Bay, Henties Bay, and Rossmund entered the 2024 Hollard Ladies Coastal Open Championships.

This competition was held at the Rossmund Golf Course for the 18th year in succession.

With this being an official event on the Namibia Amateur Ladies Golf Union (NALGU) calendar, there was the added incentive of merit points on offer, and the ladies were determined to play their best golf.

The playing conditions on both days turned out to be hot and humid. Wilna Bredenhann, from Henties Bay Golf Club (GC), had her foot firmly on the pedal through day one, shooting an 84 gross and finishing three shots ahead of her nearest rival, Ruanda de Beer, on an 87 gross from Omeya GC.

Rina Knight had her nose out in front by one shot over the rest of the field in the B Division, while Bubble Burns took charge of the Stableford Division with 37 points. The second day of play brought slightly cooler weather conditions with the earlier start. Wilna managed to keep her foot down, coming home with an 85 gross and leaving Ruanda in her wake with a 94 gross. She was extremely chuffed with herself for having won the tournament for the 7th time.
