Walvis Bay brings Governors Cup home
Very competitive
Eight teams from seven constituencies competed in this year's edition of the Governor's Cup netball tournament.
Walvis Bay Urban took on and defeated Swakopmund 43-30 in the final of the 2024 edition of the Governor’s Cup, played at the Omaruru Correctional Facility netball court.
The top goal shooter of the tournament was Meriam Niilenge from Walvis Bay Urban, and Jasmine Phillips from Daures A was named player of the tournament. Omaruru was named the most disciplined team, and the overall best constituency was Walvis Bay Urban.

“The games were really tough, and the very hot weather conditions posed a challenge. The atmosphere was, however, great. The teams learned a lot from each other and the umpires with the new netball rules that will come into effect on 1 April,” said Xanthe Wittmann, the public relations officer (PRO) of the Erongo Region Netball Association (ERNA).
