Weskop Usakos’ new deputy mayor
Fills vacancy left by late councillor
The Usakos Town Council welcomed a new deputy mayor as they confirmed Kalista Weskop's appointment during the council's recent ordinary meeting.
The appointment of Kalista Weskop as the new deputy mayor of Usakos was met with applause and support from fellow councillors and mayor Irene Simeon-Kurtz, who expressed her congratulations and appreciation for the diverse skills that Weskop brings to the position.
According to council bylaws, when the mayor or chairperson of the local authority council is absent or unable to perform their duties, the deputy mayor or vice-chairperson steps in to exercise the powers, duties, and functions of the mayor or chairperson.
This appointment is of particular importance as Weskop is expected to contribute to the growth and development of Usakos as a thriving community. Her role as deputy mayor involves working closely with the mayor and other councillors to address the town's challenges and opportunities
Weskop takes over the responsibilities of the late councillor Aleta Katiti Sem, who represented the PDM political party and served the community diligently until her death on 16 July. Weskop's appointment not only fills the void left by Sem but also signifies a new chapter in the town's leadership.
The community of Usakos looks forward to the positive impact Weskop is expected to bring and her diverse skills are sure to be an asset to the Town Council. As she steps into this position, the Usakos Town Council and its citizens remain committed to working together for the betterment of the town.
