Adonis-Byl to complete international masters program
Prestigious program
Rhythmic gymnastics section president Britt Adonis-Byl has been selected to participate in the Executive Masters in Sport Organisation Management program.
Namibian Gymnastics Federation’s Britt Adonis-Byl has recently been awarded a scholarship through the Olympic Solidarity Fund, which will enable her to participate in an Executive Masters in Sport Organisation Management program (MEMOS).
The Namibian Olympic Committee selected Adonis-Byl as the Namibian candidate after a rigorous selection process. Once the application was verified locally, it was submitted to the MEMOS Selection Board, which runs the program through the University of Ottawa in Canada.
Candidates are required to attend lectures online as well as in person between August 2024 and September 2025.
Only 36 candidates, out of the 206 Olympic countries, are selected to participate in the English version of the program.
The in-person lectures for this cycle of the MEMOS course will take place in Greece, Morocco, and Cyprus, and the final session, along with graduation, will take place in Switzerland at the IOC Head Office.
The first in-person session will occur in Olympia, Greece, from September 7 to 18, 2024.
As a part of the course, candidates are required to prepare a research project relating directly to their working environment. At the end of the course, the candidates are required to implement the findings of the project in their home country.
Adonis-Byl added that she will never give up the opportunity to keep educating herself and working towards a successful sports career.
“I believe that sport has the ability to bring the nation together regardless of age, race, or socio-economic circumstances,” she said.
She added that this program will give her the opportunity to be on par with what other sports administrators are doing across the globe and have access to tools and systems that have not been accessible before.
“My personal aspirations coincide with what we hope to achieve for gymnastics as a whole, and that is to truly become medal contenders on the African continent first, but also on the world stage,” she stated.
The Namibian Gymnastics Federation has expressed its appreciation to the NNOC that an Exco member of the federation has the opportunity to participate in this prestigious course.
“We see Britt as an asset towards the future growth of the federation and sport at large in the country. This is a tremendous opportunity that can only bring back to Namibia a wealth of knowledge and expertise.
“Additionally, she was selected as a part of the Coaches Commission of the Namibian National Olympic Committee at the end of 2023,” the federation noted.
