Sporty fun
Local soccer players and fans are in for a treat with a squad of former international soccer stars who are set to take on a group of renowned coastal legends in Walvis Bay.
After a long break, Global United FC returns to Namibia for the ninth edition of Green Kick (previously known as Climate Kick).
Local soccer players will benefit from the expertise and renowned coastal soccer legends will share the stage with international soccer stars during the highly anticipated annual visit of Global United FC from from 22 to 27 November. The German ambassador to Namibia, Dr. Thorsten Hutter, is the patron of the event with the embassy availing a donation of N$100 000 for sports materials.
The visit to the coast is orchestrated in partnership with Playtime Namibia, a nonprofit organisation headquartered in Walvis Bay committed to fostering sustainable youth and community development through sports activities - catering to children and young people across different age groups.
Global United, sponsored by Gondwana Collection/Gondwana Care Trust and Paratus Telecom, will visit the Playtime Namibiahub in Kuisebmond on 24 November. “A group of female soccer players will partake in advanced training sessions designed to hone their skills and receive expert guidance from the visiting icons. The event promises engaging and enjoyable training activities to ensure a holistic learning experience,” said Gareth Amos of Playtime Namibia. The soccer stars of tomorrow will have an opportunity to meet their idols with local teams set to engage in spirited mini-tournaments on 25 November.
