Bank Windhoek tournament a success
The second edition of the Bank Windhoek Ramblers Under-21 Tournament kicked off this weekend, and day one featured some pretty tasty encounters that excited fans from the first minute.
The first match saw Kaizen Football Academy (KFA) take on Fortis Football Academy in a match that was unpredictable from the get-go. The game was even for the most part, but a positive approach in the second half by KFA was enough to secure the win. Two goals from their marksman, Sakeus Thomas, and a goal from Jonathan Morris gave James Britz’s boys three points, with the match ending 3-0 in favour of KFA.
Cool battles
A battle between DTS and Swallows followed, and it was fast-paced from the start.
DTS took the lead through Shemuel Nkosi. The teams traded attacks for the majority of the game, but goals from Raul Noreseb and Kingsly Tjombumbi managed to complete the turnaround and get the win for Swallows, with the match ending 2-1 in favour of Swallows.
Day two saw debutants, African Stars, take on last year’s finalists, Ramblers, in what was the most anticipated match-up of the weekend. Ramblers dominated possession, but despite that, Stars managed to take the lead through quick play and slick passing, which ended with Pius Kapwita coolly rounding the goalkeeper and calmly rolling the ball in to give Stars a 1-0 lead at halftime.
It didn’t take Ramblers long to equalise after the restart, when a goal from Rowen Jagger put his team right back into the game. Ramblers managed to finally turn the game in their favour when a smart team move led to Vihape Mungunda taping in from close range, with the match ending 2-1 in their favour.
Tough game
The final match saw the defending champions, Kasaona FA, go head-to-head against SKW.
An early goal from Kasaona was almost like the beginning of the end for SKW, as the defending champions ran out as 7-0 winners.
Despite SKW’s best efforts, they could not keep up with the brilliance of Mammie Kasaona and her yellow army.
All seven goals were scored by seven different goalscorers.
