Rugby fans are in for a real treat with two action-packed matches scheduled to be played at the Hage Geingob Stadium on Saturday 13 July.
The gates will open at 9:00 am and fans are encouraged to arrive and take their seats early for a one-of-a-kind and truly Namibian experience.
The president of the Namibian Rugby Union (NRU) urged Namibian rugby fans to find their way to the stadium as early as possible. “The supporters and rugby enthusiasts are the heartbeat of our rugby community. Your presence at this match means everything to our players and the entire team. Let us rally behind our boys and show the world the strength and courage of Namibian rugby pride.”
John Heynes, the CEO of the NRU also called on the supporters to pitch early. “Your presence and enthusiasm play a crucial role in the success of our team and the growth of the sport in our country. This test match is a chance to witness top-tier rugby first-hand. The energy and support from the stands are instrumental in driving our players to perform at their best.”
Hennie Geldenhuys, chief marketing officer of Synergi added that adequate provisions have been made to ensure smooth access to the venue and to make the overall experience, a worthwhile one for fans. “We have sufficient capacity at the main gate and the north-eastern access point. The first match will see Vipers taking on Ocean Swallows at 11:00 am in the final of the Namibian Rugby Union (NRU) first division. The main game involves Namibia taking on Portugal in a test match kicking off at 3:00 pm. The last international match Namibia played at the Hage Geingob stadium was in August 2018. Namibia defeated Kenya 53-28 and booked their spot for a sixth consecutive time at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
