Eichab vows another proper season

Finishing third in their first top-flight season was not the end of the story.
Khomas Nampol FC coach Fortune Eichab is optimistic his team will remain competitive when the 2024-2025 football season begins.
The police club managed a third-place finish in their debut season of the Debmarine Namibia Premiership.
After gaining promotion, the team made a few key signings, such as Brave Warriors right wing Absalom Iimbondi from Tigers, that boosted their performance and ambition to become a formidable team in the league.
One of their star performers was Rewaldo Prins, the 21-year-old winger who finished as the league’s joint top goal-scorer and has since been picked up by Mallumo Gallants in South Africa’s DStv Premiership on a two-year deal.
Attacking midfielder/wing Ben Namib (24) was also among their players gaining recognition and Brave Warriors selection and game time in the Cosafa Cup, along with club mates George Frans and goalkeeper Erasmus Ikeinge.
Eichab said: “I must say we have already started preparing for the upcoming season.
“I can confirm that our squad has the right attitude and mentality. The players and I as a coach are preparing for a great season going forward.”
The Khomas Nampol outfits played impressive football last season and Eichab is confident in the strength of his squad going forward.
He believes the players are ready and able to pull off more surprises this season.
“We know and understand that the job will be even tougher going forward, because we are facing some strong teams which are also willing to challenge us.
“The fact we performed so well in our very first league season will definitely make the other teams aware and more careful when playing against us,” he noted.
The team finished third with 59 points from 30 matches last season, as African Stars won the league and Ongos FC ended second.
The team won 18 of their 30 matches, with five draws and seven loses. The three-horse race at the top remained competitive until the end.
“I think we came quite close to the title last season and there was a time we even led the race.
“We also had a good PstBet NFA Cup campaign since then (winning the bronze-medal match 3-2 against Eeshoke Chula Chula).
“All these are things we must take as positives and build on in order to have a strong start to the upcoming season.
Eichab, who coached Tura Magic before moving to the uniformed team, is targeting some silverware and has high hopes.
“I know everything is going to work well if we keep on pushing. The attitude and commitment of the players will be the difference again this season.”
