The Nedbank for Good Series recently celebrated the significant achievement of passing the N$1 million mark in funds raised since its inception in 2020.
This milestone was reached during the fourth round of this year’s series, held at Mariental Golf Club on 13 July.
The funds, raised through the auctioning of various donated products, have supported numerous charitable causes.
Dan Zwiebel, coordinator of the Nedbank for Good Series, reflected on the journey since the series, formerly known as the Nedbank for Autism Series, began in 2020. Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the series continued to garner support from sponsors and the golfing community.
“With the support of sponsors and the golfing community, we were able to raise N$133 155 in 2020, N$228 200 in 2021, and N$294 850 in 2022,” Zwiebel explained.
He added that the transition to the Nedbank for Good Series allowed the event to broaden its charitable impact beyond autism, supporting a variety of causes.
Last year N$250 000 was raised to benefit the Rössing Foundation National Outreach Program, bringing the total to N$906 205 over four years. This year, the series hit its million-dollar target during the fifth round of the 2024 Series.
Zwiebel credited the milestone to the unwavering support of players, Nedbank Namibia, and other co-sponsors.
Following the successful sixth round in Oranjemund in August, the series now heads to the coast for three back-to-back events. The first was last Saturday at the Henties Bay Golf and Lifestyle Estate, followed by Swakopmund’s Rössmund course on 24 August, and concluding with the Walvis Bay leg on 31 August. The series then returns to Windhoek Country Club on 14 September, culminating in the series finals on 4 October at Omeya.
Zwiebel expressed excitement for the coastal leg, noting the strong participation of local players and the support from Walvis Bay.
This year’s proceeds will support Agra ProVision, an organization dedicated to training, servicing, and supporting underserved agricultural communities.
The 2024 Nedbank for Good Series is proudly co-sponsored by Pupkewitz Toyota, Vivo Energy Namibia, Agra, AfricaOnline, JTC Namibia, APS, Erongo Marine Enterprises, The Logistics Company Namibia, Gondwana Collection Namibia, CB Enterprises, Pupkewitz Megabuild, and official media partner Future Media.
