Okahandja FC angry at officials

The Okahandja FC technical staff on Saturday were angered by the way the referee and linesman handled their FNB Women’s Super League match against Unam Bokkies FC.

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in a match at the NFA Technical Centre on Saturday.

Both teams ended up fuming on the pitch after the referee allowed a goal scored by Unam Bokkies late in the second half before disallowing it following a protest from the Okahandja FC players and coaching staff.

“The decisions of this referee are very shocking to say the least.

“The ball had crossed the line for a goal kick, but he allowed play to continue and this resulted in a goal.

“This goal would have stood, had we not protested in.

“The referees really need to start improving on their decisions,” Okahandja’s coach Jakobus April said.

Noleen Gorases of Okahandja FC and Mildred Ujamba of Unam were the only scorers of the heated match.

Unam Bokkies looked the more skillful side on the ball for most parts, but Okahandja FC had their moments and they pulled off some good interchange play.

Coach Borris /Uirab of the Unam Bokkies said he had hoped for a victory on Saturday.

“It was not such a good game, because the decisions made by the referees were not good.

“On the playing field, I think my team were the better side, but we allowed the other team to grow in confidence after a few mistakes when we were in position,” Boris said.

• In other league action on Saturday, Ongwediva Queens were defeated 5-2 by on-form Beauties FC, while Gals & Goals FC were held 2-2 by Namib Daughters.
