Rössmund's winning pairs proceed
Golf
Rössmund Golf Club presented the first leg in the 2025 International Pairs Tournament sponsored by King Price and Castle Lite last weekend. The competition was played in conjunction with the club’s annual Captain vs Vice-captain Challenge.
As one can imagine, there was a lot of banter going on. Unfortunately once again the Captain had to bow to the victors, being the Vice-captain’s team.
There were sufficient players to warrant an International Pairs qualifier. King Price’s newly appointed coastal marketing leader, Chrysander Botha, of was on hand to assist with the prize-giving.
The winners were one of the club’s long-time twosomes Clive Lawrence and Mark Jacobs with 42 points (they also received the prize for the best dressed pair); 2nd Gareth Greenlees & Gordon Lohmann (41); 3rd Billy & Rina Knight (on count-out 40 points against Vilho Hanghome/Justine Shikulo); 5th Gerhard Byleveld & Chris Magson (39); 6th Steven Johns & George Murasiki (38, count-out).
• On Sunday, Rössmund held its monthly Sages Competition kindly sponsored by Atlantic Villas.
The field was a fair size, despite a number of regulars that were missing in action.
Nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Vilho Hanghome (hole 7) and Dreyer du Plessis (hole 12).
Club chairman Clive Lawrence took the laurels winning a count-out over new Sage Quinton Jonck on 39 points each. Third was Vilho Hanghome (38), followed by Rina Knight (37) and Mark Jacobs (36).
