Two spots to be filled through trials
Golf
The Namibia Junior Golf Foundation is on the look-out to identify two competent players to complete its national team.
Based on the order of merit for last year’s tournaments, Kyle Johnson and Charlie Lohmann were the only two qualifiers for the national junior team for 2024.
No other players in the A or B division has qualified, due to the fact that they did not play enough rounds.
The Namibia Junior Golf Foundation thus invites all junior players with a handicap index of 16 or lower to participate in two trial tournament, which will consist out of three rounds each.
All six rounds will count for the selection. The first and second placed players will qualify for the nation team.
The first trial tournament is the Omeya Junior Open (12-14 January) and the second trials will be hosted at Rossmund Golf Club near Swakopmund (26-28 January).
Lohmann looks set to be the only remaining member from last year’s visit to Uganda’s capital Kampala, when the 2024 African junior championship is hosted at the Benoni Country Club in Gauteng during the second half of April this year.
