Vegkop ignited by inter-high

The Windhoek High School Vegkop Stadium once again lived up to its greatness as Windhoek High School and Windhoek Gymnasium battled each other during the seventh inter-high competition. Windhoek Gymnasium dominated some of the proceedings, while Windhoek High School also stood its ground in many of the sports activities that took place. It was packed to the rafters, and this pushed both schools to do their level best in the matches. Proud achievementsThe electric matches, however, were between the two senior teams from both sets of sports codes.The netball code saw some incredible action, with both teams giving it their all, setting up an intriguing matchup between the two sides.Gymnasium and Windhoek High School all had one thing on their minds, which was to win and make their fellow learners and teachers proud. Bragging rights The under-19 netball team left wild celebrations on the court after Windhoek High School left it late to take the bragging rights.The match was level at 45-45 until the home team grabbed that late winner, which ignited the crowd. "We definitely had to fight and do well against a great Windhoek Gymnasium and we did that," Shirley Micayla said. Windhoek Gymnasium players, on the other hand, did not feel distraught after the game, knowing they had given it their all. "It was a good game, and they came to us in the last quarters, and that made things hard. "We are, however, not disappointed by the fact that we lost to a good team that gave us a game," Mia Burger of Windhoek Gymnasium said. The under-19 rugby game, however, did not live up to expectations, even if the crowd had been loud. The two teams struggled to get going, and many errors interrupted the match.It was the visiting school that had the final say in the end after a 15-6 victory over their rivals.
