The Namibian Bowling Association’s annual National Champion of Champions singles competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday at the Eros Bowling Club in the capital.

Schalk van Wyk and Henriette Partridge are the defending singles champions and are ready to defend their titles against the country’s best.

As last year’s Namibian men’s and women’s Champion of Champions, Van Wyk and Partridge had qualified to represent their country recently in Australia at the World Champion of Champions tournament. This world event’s inaugural edition was famously won by Namibia’s Douw Calitz in 2003 in Moama, New South Wales.

This year’s men’s and women’s champion will once again qualify to represent the country at the World Champion of Champions tournament in 2024. The country where it will be presented and the date are not yet confirmed.

New Zealand would have hosted the 2023 version in November, but because the World Bowls Championships was held in Australia, that date was brought forward and the event concluded just after the World Championships at the Gold Coast in Queensland.

Saturday’s national Champion of Champions event is only for Namibian citizens, but registered players from any club in the country may enter.

Players from the coast, North, and especially Windhoek will face each other with total focus and dedication on the immaculate greens.

On the local front, Eros Bowling Club, TransNamib and Windhoek Bowling Club will dominate the competition with numbers.

The decisive final round will be completed on Sunday.

The tournament will be broadcast in its entirety by Namibia Media Holdings’ NTV production team.
